Even though the situation isn't ideal as we approach the end of your child's time here at Eastover, we would like to put together an end of year video to celebrate.
We have chosen the song Times Like These - Live Lounge version for Year 6 to sing and we will record this in school. However, if your child is at home with you and they would like to take part in the video, simply take a photo of them holding a goodbye message and send it to email@example.com so we include them in the final edit.
Please ensure this is sent to us by Tuesday 7th July at the very latest.
Again, many thanks to all of you for your support throughout the year.
Year6- French learning
18.05.20 This week we are going to revise Days of the week, Months and take a look at ordinal numbers in French.
Firstly, please watch this clip (with a grown up) and sing along until your days of the week are familiar again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lpwf5N0rfVE
Have a look at these phrases: What do you think the words in bold might mean?
Le premier, c’est Lundi. Le deuxième, c’est Mardi. Le troisième, c’est Mercredi. Le quatrième, c’est Jeudi. Le cinquième, c’est Vendredi. Le sixième, c’est Samedi est le dernier, c’est Dimanche.
Find out what premier(masculine)/première(feminine) means? Can you see a link to the word premier in English? What does dernier/dernière mean?
Now take a look at the Months song and sing along too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_u2SigckNQ
Children sometimes find it tricky to remember how to pronounce the ‘em’ in the French Months. Please watch this clip and practise the words using this sound in French: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8l7QFSWaz4sNow sing your months song once more.
Look at this pattern: deuxième, troisième, quatrième, cinquième, sixième, septième…
How do you think we could write the next ordinal number? What pattern can you see?
Try to write these in French words: 8th, 9th, 10th, 21st, 64th, *Challenge*96th. Check your answers on Google translate by writing the word (example: eighth) into the search for French.
Now complete the missing ordinal numbers next to these Months of the year:
mai janvier = premier juillet
avril octobre mars
novembre aout décembre = dernier
juin février = deuxième septembre
Finally, watch and sing along with this phonic clip about an interesting Eel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2A6TXdOVHQ
