Summer Reading Challenge for Schools

This year’s Summer Reading Challenge theme is the natural world!

We would love as many pupils as possible to take part this year – it’s free and it keeps children reading throughout the summer holiday. All you have to do is register with the library (if you’re not already a member) and then your child/ren can borrow the reading challenge books. If they read 1 or more they get stickers and a certificate. Read all 6 and they also gain a medal. In addition, in September, they can bring in their medal and/or certificate and receive house points!

There are extra games and activities to take part in through the Reading Challenge website: www.summerreadingchallenge.org.uk

There will be some registration forms in reception – collect one and take it into the library with a piece of i.d. and encourage your child to take part. Remember – research shows that children who read regularly are most likely to achieve and succeed in all areas.

Bridgwater library has other activities planned for the holiday too – check them out if you get bored.

Happy reading!
