Sticky Questions Are Back!

We’re excited to reintroduce Sticky Questions—thought-provoking prompts designed to spark meaningful conversations and develop children’s oracy skills. Each year group will be exploring a different question over the course of the month, encouraging pupils to think deeply, share ideas, and articulate their thoughts clearly. We’d love for you to continue these discussions at home with your child, helping them build confidence in expressing themselves and engaging in dialogue. Look out for this month’s question and enjoy the conversations it inspires!

FS: Which cartoon character would you most like to be like and why?

Year 1: What is the most important thing about a hero?

Year 2: Can you cheat if you don’t know the rules?

Year 3: If Jo’s grandad stole something from Alex’s grandma, does Jo owe it to Alex?

Year 4: When you dream, are you the audience, the actor, the director or something else?

Year 5: What would a computer have to do to count as a person?

Year 6: What would happen if money was abolished?

KS1 Autumn Reading Challenge WINNERS!

This week's KS1 reading challenge winners are Otters!  They had an average of 4.44 reads. In second place Hedgehogs with a close 4.42. In third place Foxes with 4.16, and in fourth place Rabbits with 4.11.

Total reads across KS1 this week is 438 down from last week (460). Well done KS1. We didn't meet our challenge to hit 5 so let’s try again this week. The star reader to take the case and Snuggles the bear home from Otters is Oakley for always reading every night, 7 nights a week. He loves all books but especially the Gruffalo.

Twilight Club are running some great activities during December. Click here to view the calendar, booking early is advised as places are limited. You can book your child’s place online via Scopay. Please speak to the school office if you would like to book your child onto Twilight club for the first time.

Important notes for year groups:

Year 1

Please can Year 1 parents bring in a £1 donation towards the food and treats for the Year 1 Christmas party that is being held on Thursday 18th December. The Christmas party is the same day as the trip to Scott’s Cinema. Children are welcome to come into school wearing warm party clothes, with sensible shoes and a warm coat.

Year 2

Year 2 start swimming lessons from Monday 8th December. Please can children wear their PE kits to school (no tights)

Your child will need: -

Swimming costume/swimming shorts

A named towel

Goggles (optional)

All children's belongings need to be named. It is helpful that your child knows where their name is on their belongings so they can independently find what is theirs.

Year 4

Year 4 Christmas Service is on Tuesday 16th December at St John’s Church. The service starts at 09:30am but parents are welcome to arrive for coffee from 08:45am.
