How to access Teams

Microsoft 0365 and Teams remote learning

Dear Parents and Carers

Eastover Primary School is now set up with our new Online Learning platform, Microsoft 0365 which will enable us to provide remote learning to our pupils. Every child has been given their own individual Microsoft 0365 account which will allow them to access amazing apps such Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and importantly Microsoft Teams for free.

What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams allows us to communicate with you and your child remotely and lets us distribute and receive homework assignments. This will be especially useful if we have to return to any form of home learning due to a local or national lockdown. Importantly, Microsoft Teams also allows us to communicate with you (using your child’s account) and lets you communicate with us which will be extremely useful when we hold remote events such as parents evening.

Where can I find Microsoft Teams?

Children are currently being taught how to use this great tool and it would be fantastic if you could all play an active role in helping them set this up at home by visiting https://www.office.com or you can set up the app directly on your own device by downloading if from the relevant app store. You will need their username and password.

Which devices does it work on?

You can use Microsoft Teams on any device such as iPad, laptop or even your mobile phone by downloading the app or using the web-based version. However, if you do not have access to a device, or a stable internet connection, we would very much like to know.

Online Safety

With children being encouraged to spend more time online completing remote learning, it is important to remind children about their behaviour online. If you do have any online safeguarding concerns, they should be reported to a member of the DSL team on: balcock@eastoverschool.co.uk or cthorne@eastoverschool.co.uk However, if a child is at immediate risk, please contact Somerset Direct on 0300 123 2224.

Many thanks for your continued support,

Nicola Darby
